WEEK 1 - ONB 101

MANDATORY ONBOARDING & OSHA 10 CERTIFICATION

The student will gain knowledge on the safety requirements for the powerline construction industries. Students will obtain an OSHA 10hr. Construction Industry Certification. They will also receive their First Aid CPR and AED certification as well. Upon receiving their climbing tools, the students will begin to adjust their gear and start climbing.

COURSE OUTLINE

  • On the first day, students will be introduced to powerline utility safety and provided an overview of campus facilities and resources, campus rules and policies, the Rockwell Lineman Training Program, and the expectations and requirements of students.

  • The remainder of the week will focus on the OSHA 10 hour training, CPR first aid and AED training, introductory training for Job Hazard Analysis forms that will be filled out daily.

  • The week will end with getting adjusted and fitted for climbing tools and climbing pole bases for familiarity.

COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  1. Understand and identify the requirements, policies, and expectations relevant to a student enrolled in the Rockwell Lineman Training Program, including without limitation all those requirements and policies contained in the 2026 Course Catalog.

  2. Obtain an OSHA 10 hr. Construction Card.

  3. Receive CPR, First Aid Certificate.

  4. Understand the importance of Job Hazard Analysis' in the workplace.

  5. Obtain Proper fitting for climbing tools and gear.

  6. Perform introductory climbing techniques.
