Rockwell Lineman Training Program
An intensive 11-week program combining classroom instruction and hands-on field training to prepare students for entry-level opportunities in the powerline industry.

The program is structured to progressively develop the knowledge, safety practices, climbing abilities, and technical skills students need as they prepare to enter the industry.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
From the Classroom to the Training Field
Students begin with mandatory onboarding, safety training, and introductory skills before progressing through climbing, rigging, electrical fundamentals, distribution, and transmission construction.
Equipotential Zone
Students receive basic electrical safety and equipotential-zone instruction designed to establish safe work areas around equipment, along with additional aerial-work training.
Basic Knowledge of Rigging
Students learn foundational rigging concepts including load calculations, rope operation, basic knots, hitches, blocks, and configurations used for lifting different loads.
Electrical Transmission Construction
Students move into transmission-focused training, including hands-on work designed to introduce transmission construction and related field practices.
Climbing Competencies
Three progressive climbing courses introduce students to safe and proper pole-climbing techniques used on powerline distribution and transmission poles.
Students develop their climbing ability while learning proper use of safety equipment and PPE.
Mandatory Onboarding & OSHA 10
Students are introduced to power utility safety, campus facilities and resources, program rules and policies, OSHA 10 training, CPR/First Aid/AED training, introductory electrical concepts, and basic climbing tools and equipment.
Electrical Distribution Construction
Students receive hands-on training related to electrical distribution, including transformer connections, primary and secondary connections, construction of single-phase and three-phase transformer banks, and additional distribution-related work.
CERTIFICATIONS
Training Beyond the Pole
Students receive training and the opportunity to obtain certification in:

Tools, Gear & Training Equipment
Required student gear, tools, and supplies are included as part of program tuition.
Students are provided program-related items including personal protective equipment, climbing gear, hand tools, clothing, and classroom materials.
