WEEK 5 - ELI 101
Basic Knowledge of Rigging
This course introduces the basics of rigging, load calculations, and load charts for the operation of a derrick digger and bucket truck in accordance with OSHA regulations (29 C.F.R. § 1926.251). This course also covers basic knot tying, and the inspection criteria for various rigging hardware. Also introduced is the specification of rigging configurations needed to lift various loads.

COURSE OUTLINE
Students will demonstrate how to properly set up equipment for best rigging practices. They will also identify and inspect the correct rigging material as well as correctly rig up various objects to ensure the best safe work practices are being followed. Students will be tested on basic knot tying as well as execution of the various lifts performed.

Demonstrate proper care for and inspection of climbing gear.
Identify and demonstrate different techniques for proper distribution pole inspection.
Introduction to pole top hurt man rescue.
